Filling the Gaps: How This 60+ Student Uses Musiah to Supercharge Private Piano Lessons
Can an app actually make your private piano lessons more effective? For Shane H. in Victoria, the answer was a resounding yes. Despite working full-time and taking fortnightly lessons, Shane used Musiah—an AI piano lessons app to master every mistake in her practice routine. By fixing her timing and rhythm issues at home, she found her confidence soaring and her progress with her "live" teacher accelerating faster than ever before.
"I would definitely recommend Musiah for anybody who wants to learn piano or anyone who is already learning and wants to improve more quickly. It's a fun and motivating way to learn."
I have taken up piano later in life and have only been learning for 2 years now. As I take fortnightly lessons with a teacher and I have set homework to achieve between my lessons I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to find the additional time to do the work to get through Musiah lessons, especially as I work full-time.
The Discipline of an AI Piano Teacher
That said, what I'm finding is that Musiah is helping me to overcome underlying issues I had with my timing, rhythm and practice method. Musiah won't let me move on to the next song or level until I have achieved a fairly high standard so it is forcing me to apply a discipline that practising on my own does not. It is also training my ear to listen to the tempo and beat of each song which is an area I had trouble with before.
The Musiah training has flowed through into my regular practice for my live teacher lessons so my practice is now more focussed and efficient and I am gaining more confidence. I can see that I will be able to achieve my goals much faster and even though it does take me a bit of extra time each day, the Musiah training has added inspiration, fun, direction and purpose to my practice time.
Breaking Down Difficult Songs Into Manageable Parts
The practice area of Musiah is excellent – it allows me to break the song down into parts and just practice the most difficult parts. It allows me to practice hands separate and together at different tempos until I've built up to a point where I am ready to audition.
I find it very rewarding when I manage to play a song at a tempo which I thought unachievable when I started working on it. It gives me the confidence that I can play any piece if I patiently practice.
Additionally, the Musiah lessons are very structured and logically progress with mini-goals towards the major goal so there is no guess-work about what I am supposed to do when I sit at the keyboard each day.
The storyline is fun and motivating and keeps me coming back for more.
A Shared Musical Journey: The Multi-Student Family Plan for Siblings and Friends
And you can add up to six students to your account so it is extremely cost-effective. I have added my sister and this creates a bit of competition and keeps things interesting. My sister does not have a teacher and has been trying to find an effective method to learn piano as an adult for several years now. She is now very happily learning piano with Musiah.
I would definitely recommend Musiah for anybody who wants to learn piano or anyone who is already learning and wants to improve more quickly. It's a fun and motivating way to learn.
Musiah has helped me to feel more in control of my music learning journey. It's definitely filled some important gaps for me and taken the monotony out of my practice routine. Who knows I might even get enough confidence to play in front of real people and not just Musiah characters.
