Today, I’m proud to share with you this most recent review kindly sent in by Becky Hunter, a mom from Utah, USA who has two kids currently learning piano with Musiah.
Becky is an extremely conscientious mom who keeps a close eye on her kids’ progress.
Also, her kids have previously learned with a piano instructor, so how did they find learning piano with Musiah by comparison?
Before I first enrolled in Musiah, the first hurdle was honestly, I didn't know it existed. Once I found out about it, it was getting all the ducks in row. Purchasing a keyboard, getting the program and keyboard in sync, etc. I worried about learning on a keyboard and computer vs. piano with a pedal and sheet music. How the transition would work.
Now that my children have started lessons with Musiah, I still worry a bit about the difference of learning on a keyboard and computer vs. piano with a pedal and sheet music. But the benefits have far outweigh my concerns. I like to periodically take the computer to the piano so they can feel the difference and experience that as well to eliminate this concern.
Of all the aspects of the program there are to like, I mainly like that my kids like it. If it was boring and mundane to them, it would be a daily challenge to get them working on it. They love the format. They love seeing their progression. Really for kids, it's brilliant. I love that they have an instructor with them every lesson.
Other benefits of piano lessons with Musiah include;
a. Cost for sure. Although I want my kids to practice every day, some days it doesn't happen. If I was paying a lot for the program I might not participate. But the price is amazing!
b. Relationship with my children. I would often get frustrated with piano. I would send my kids off for a lesson and then they'd come home and really I was doing the teaching. I started to wonder why we were doing lessons. I would get frustrated with them when they weren't getting a piece, concept, etc. But now Musiah practices with them. Now Musiah can help them understand what they are doing wrong in a calm, collective tone :)
c. You get piano lessons everyday not just practice. Instead of an instructor sitting with you and instructing you 30 mins per week, you get an instructor sitting with you every lesson. Greatest thing about Musiah in my opinion.
My kids have learned more in the past 2 months of regular Musiah instruction then they ever learned in their first year + of piano lessons with an instructor.
Would I recommend Musiah?
Certainly, and I have. It is so user friendly, fun for the kids, takes so much pressure off parents, especially those who themselves don't play. It is inexpensive, and a very good program overall.
So grateful a friend of mine Nate Delahunty introduced us to this program and for Brendan's patience with me in getting it going.

A HUGE thank you Becky for your very kind feedback and support, and for taking the time to send in this fantastic review. I’m delighted the lessons are working so well for your kids and I’m excited to see them continue to progress and develop their reading and playing skills in the weeks and months ahead.
Just briefly on the topic of learning on a keyboard Vs learning on a piano, I wanted to put your mind at ease that there are no downsides to this at all.
That said, what you are doing with your kids in terms of getting them to play piano from time to time in addition to the keyboard playing they do in their Musiah lessons is great as it will help them to develop their appreciation of the differences between piano and keyboard.
